Overall impressions: Geesh these folks are FAST. Basically I'd kill to skate
½ as well as the "worst" of this group.
Compulsory
- The Youngs - Fast secure and smooth. He skidded a 3 in one corner on the
Ravensberg. The blues were solid.
- Munanas - Some toe pick issues. And I made a note that said, "wall"
in the waltz. Not sure if it was a compliment or a fear. Uneven speed on the
Blues.
- Henzes & Foster - She stumbled. Her twizzles looked weak. They looked
tight and fearful in the blues.
- Nitake & Ross-Frye - Slight twizzle problem. Otherwise secure and very
nice on the waltz. The blues was very smooth & sharp.
Original Dance
- Nitake & Ross-Frye - Flamenco style dance well done.
- Henzes & Foster - Gypsy Kings version of "Hotel Calif."
- Youngs- Costume disaster #1 for them - Her skirt is designed to be held
up in the beginning of the dance & come down so she can "flounce
it" during the footwork. It looked like it pulled down early & freaked
her out. She fell on the footwork & it caused a big interruption. Then
he fell on the ending pose.
- Munanas - Serene & peaceful, clean & pretty lifts with complex holds.
Cool interweaving footwork - but a little rough in spots.
Free
- Henzes & Foster. Lifts were rough and the dance spin position dissolved
a little early.
- Munanas - MidEast music. Solid first lift and both spins. 1 missed hand
grab. 1 footwork bobble. Footwork in general got an "Eek" from me.
- Nitake & Ross-Frye. Great holds and transitions. Teeny problem late
in the footwork.
- Youngs - Costume Disaster # 2 - A piece of the chiffon skirt fell on the
ice very early in the dance. Later they had to move a piece of the dance very
close to the wall to dodge it. They skated VERY fast. But they had quite a
bit of separation between them and the whole dance seemed "messy"
to me.
